Postprandial Hypotension

For those in later stages of Parkinson's, who might be feeling sleepy, weak, or even falling after a meal, check your blood pressure. Postprandial hypotension, ("low BP after eating") can show up in as little as 15 minutes after a meal, and persist for 2 hours. This is typically not something that will show up in the doctor's office. And since Sinemet has BP lowering effect, if you are taking other BP meds, the impact can be magnified. (My husband was falling asleep while eating breakfast, and falling on the walk back from dinner before we figured out what was going on.)
