My husband was on doxy for years for acne and roseacea and when we tested his gut bacteria he was completely missing bifidobacteria and had very few lactobacteria and had a large number of another bacteria called corynebacterium amycolatum which are quite antibiotic resistant, mainly found on the skin. These bacteria are often found in PD but not in large numbers in the general population and I think are opportunists that take over when the good guys have been wiped out. (My theory).
