I would stay on the Azilect. I have been taking it for nearly 3 years. I do a fast walk every 2nd day and sometimes going up a hill I feel like I have asthma. I find now I don't fill my lungs up properly. I am trying to do more breathing exercises. Parkinson's can do this to some people, I don't believe it is the medication.
I also developed shortness of breath and did all the tests like you. I don’t think it’s Azelect related but just another PD off symptom.
Key was my shortness of breath comes when I am off and goes away when I am on again
I too find I breathe shallowly often as I’m going off. I use a meditative app to help restore deeper breathing. Called Headspace and is worth the cost.
Agree with above comments. I went to ER once for shortness of breath. Tested all the usual things and all normal. So they treated me like it was emotional panic attack. After researching and talking to neuro, discovered since diaphragm is a muscle, it does not work as well when I am off.
Of course, shortness of breath is stressful, exacerbating symptoms. I meditate and practice Mindfulness, and have learned some meditative techniques to use when this and other stress-induced symptoms kick in.
