My neurologist said I could reduce my Rytary from three a dose to two starting slowly with morning dose. I find I have shortness of breath before my morning dose kicks in. it appears it may be related to my stomach but not sure. Any input is appreciated.

Shortness of breath in PD is a non motor symptom in PD. There can be various causes including wearing off of medication. I dont know what makes you connect it with your stomach but it is highly unlikely to be a cause. I was wondering why you decided to reduce your rytary?

AhhYou write elsewhere that you have had PD about 20 yrs, does that mean you were diagnosed 20 years ago? If so you appear to be on very little medication if you only have RYTARY 2 or 3xs a day. I am 13 plus yrs diagnosed and same age as you so I feel for you. I havent got it right yet but I am much better on L/C 200/50 CR and L/C 100/25 IR (can take half tab) along with Azilect and Amantadine (2 day). I can last 31/2 to 4 hours, sometimes 5 hours. I do get mild dyskenesia.

The important thing for me is to keep my gut moving and eat very little until I have had my second dose. Hope you find some relief soon.

Yes Hikoi, I was diagnosed in1999. I don’t know how familiar you are with Rytary, but I was to take three 36.25-145 mg four times a day. That was too much for me and my neurologist said I could reduce to two pills at a time. Hasn’t helped. I started Rytary about a year ago but was doing much better on sinemet. She switched me because I was having to take the sinemet every two hours and she was trying to get me on something to last longer. Going through a hard time right now. Thanks for listening.

Esther, 22 yrs, You are a marvel.

I remember what one Parkinson Nurse said when I told her a treatment regime was working. She said if its working don’t change anything! A pity your neuro changed your regime even tho it was 2 hrly I do hope you get this sorted.
