Ataxia and Parkinson’s

Does anyone have Ataxia along with PD? I have noticed it is getting worse and is not being helped by HDT. The parkinsonism is still responding to the HDT. It is getting harder and harder to get around even with my walker. How is anyone else possibly dealing with Ataxia?

Sorry for my ignorance. WHAT IS ATAXIA?

It is rigidity with your gait. It is completely separate from Parkinson’s. It can originate in the base of the brain or spinal column.

Yes, I do! I’ve discussed this several times, in Health Unlocked, Parkinson’s Movement, and Ataxia, UK forums. I have a Cerebellar Ataxia diagnosis, from compression of the facial etc. nerve roots, that enter into the Cerebellum, at the Cerebellum Pontine angle. This is caused by an artery, that has attached itself to the brain stem🙄

Continuing on- This is an inoperable condition. I’ve been seen and diagnosed by several of the best, well known neuro-surgeons in the USA. This gives me the Ataxic gate and other nerve compression symptoms. Also, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, close to 3 years ago. My Ataxia symptoms stay about the same, it only gets a little worse over time. It is not like the disease process of the Parkinson’s that I have. My walking, and balance, in particular, are noticeably affected.
