Hello, I’m new to this. My husband has Parkinson’s. For a month he has been very ill. Throwing up, diarrhea, loss of appetite so forth. Er doc says no flue they can’t find any thing. He takes his levodopa but was taking that before. He just stays in bed all day and night. Has anyone else had something like this? Thank you

Not me. See another doctor.

My experience of Parkinson's is gradual creep of symptoms rather than sudden onset, and does not include diarrhea. I would suggest seeing a different M.D. such as a gastroenterologist.

Also, just in case this applies - melatonin can cause a gassy diarrhea.

I had a similar experience (dx 11/18). Spent 6 weeks in bed. Had no clue what was going on. 2 trips to the emergency room. Found nothing. My son said it sounded like classic depression. He was right. I got on antidepressant and anti anxiety meds. Made myself get up and go walk 2 or 3 times a day just short distances. 1000% better. I thought I was dying! Not on any PD meds yet. They made my stomach go crazy (carba/ leva). Lorazepam helped my stomach a lot (anxiety). Psychiatrist is a big help! I’m now seeing specialist at Shands in Fla. exercising my ass off. That’s the best med if you can do it. Hope I am of some help. God Bless

This sounds like something else. See another doctor. Make sure they do a stool culture. Prepare to be relentless in your advocacy as a number of doctors I’ve seen can be lazy and will attribute everything to Parkinson’s when they are actually ignorant of the disease.Good luck to you.
