Hello, I’m new to this. My husband has Parkinson’s. For a month he has been very ill. Throwing up, diarrhea, loss of appetite so forth. Er doc says no flue they can’t find any thing. He takes his levodopa but was taking that before. He just stays in bed all day and night. Has anyone else had something like this? Thank you
Parkinson’s : Hello, I’m new to this. My... - Cure Parkinson's
Parkinson’s
Not me. See another doctor.
My experience of Parkinson's is gradual creep of symptoms rather than sudden onset, and does not include diarrhea. I would suggest seeing a different M.D. such as a gastroenterologist.
Also, just in case this applies - melatonin can cause a gassy diarrhea.
I had a similar experience (dx 11/18). Spent 6 weeks in bed. Had no clue what was going on. 2 trips to the emergency room. Found nothing. My son said it sounded like classic depression. He was right. I got on antidepressant and anti anxiety meds. Made myself get up and go walk 2 or 3 times a day just short distances. 1000% better. I thought I was dying! Not on any PD meds yet. They made my stomach go crazy (carba/ leva). Lorazepam helped my stomach a lot (anxiety). Psychiatrist is a big help! I’m now seeing specialist at Shands in Fla. exercising my ass off. That’s the best med if you can do it. Hope I am of some help. God Bless
John
well i have had p,d for over 6 years its never happened to me ever so get him out of bed get him moving get some one to go with him as well you never mention his meds, what is he taking, as this will make a big differents in his life you need to get him moving, check out the foods he should be eating what ever hes eating needs to change his diet go into the internet theres things there that will tell you what to do and how to stop it hes in for much pain in his life put him on the b1 as soon as possible keep away from spicy food eat lots of fruit people here on healthunlocked will tell you every thing they know as we are all in one big family of pain lots of luck on your journey both of you.so good luck regards john.
This sounds like something else. See another doctor. Make sure they do a stool culture. Prepare to be relentless in your advocacy as a number of doctors I’ve seen can be lazy and will attribute everything to Parkinson’s when they are actually ignorant of the disease.Good luck to you.
Have never seen your husband's symptoms listed as PD symptoms...also, maybe a bad batch of levadopa ?
By any chance is he experiencing dizzy spells too ?
