Most interesting quote I got from the whole thing, "anytime a substance is used to artificially stimulate a neurotransmitter the brain responds by reducing production or responsiveness, which results in more depletion of the neurotransmitter"

This was in reference to GABA but I assume it pertains to dopamine and serotonin precursors as well. What do you think ?

Well I read a while ago that when you start taking an antidepressant like sertraline which is a seratonin reuptake inhibitor initially side effects like being jittery, suicidal etc is caused by the brain being flooded with seratonin, then the receptors start turning off until the brain can handle it. Then the psychiatrist says see the medication is working. The problem is now the receptors are almost all off so if you come off it again you are way worse off than you were to begin with. If you slowly taper the drugs off over a very long period the receptors are able to slowly recover. Much lower levels of the drug at the start potentially could have achieved the same effect without the over shoot at the start.

Watch this series if you have time. Each episode is on 1 day. I just started this one and it covers depression drugs very well
