I have the same question : can we gain muscle (through exercise) ?

I do not have an answer. even though my GP says that yes, we can.

I don't think we grow new/more muscles. I think that exercise embellishes the ones we have. ( altho i must add I am not quite positive about that!) ( will research)

Yes, I exercise several times a week and tremor dominate arm just isn’t as strong as other for past year. Dx 2 years ago. Also have lost a little dexterity in that arm as well.

I've been wanting to ask you all about this. My husbands's strength is waning and he's been losing weight for months. He used to be 6' and this morning he weighed 126.2 pounds. Is losing weight and losing strength common symptoms of PD?

i find that it is hard work to keep muscle tone. age is a factor as well as the parkinson's. keep at it. you can build it if you work hard enough at it.

The tremor arm is mush from elbow to shoulder, and I can work, that deltoid, but can't work the muscle on the other side of the deltoid. As a result it's impossible to extend that arm out to put on a coat, or even a sweater. I use a rower, I'm sure it helps other areas, but it hasn't 't improved the weak mushy arm........other arm is ok.

Hey About 3 years

I Had the same issue with getting my arms into clothing, my tremor arm was so stiff , I couldn’t lift my arm

I stretched as much as possible and Still do, my PD Specialist Increased my Ropinirole and I haven’t had that problem since

Yes, I had very little strength in my right arm and hand

I couldn’t peel or chop vegetables or stir a pot because of the weakness !

I spoke to the PD Specialist about it and he prescribed Madopar 50mg

At times my hand still feels weak but I don’t get that stiffness in my arm anymore
