Did anyone have a knee replacement and have trouble?
Knee replacement: Did anyone have a knee... - Cure Parkinson's
Knee replacement
I will follow the answers with utmost interest ...
I am due to have the same intervention, on both knees. And it appears to me that muscle lost after immobilization of the limb is extremely difficult to gain back, due to PD or to age (66).
I do not have any answer, and I doubt the surgeon has them...
I had a total knee on November 13...it has gone extremely Well! 💕❤️💕❤️
Thank you for this FancyNancy !
How long did it take for you to walk again freely ? What about post op ?
I was up on it that day and walking out in the hall by day3.i did home health for rehab and they had me walking outside at week 2. I have full movement...the pain was minor
Very nice to hear, congratulations.
I am due to see the surgeon within 2 weeks.
My hope is being able to go to the gym, maybe back to skiing - I now live in the mountains. I do not have much exercise because of that pain in the knees. As a result I am afraid PD will progress faster. It's a vicious circle...
I have had both knees replaced but quite a long time before being diagnosed with PD. (10+ years and 3 years) both have been very successful and cause me no problems at all.
My wife had total knee replacement on both knees 5 months ago and now she is playing table tennis with me. I am the one with PD and by playing table tennis, I feel much better. Less rigidity and more movement on my left side too. It is a life changing experience for both of us. My wife was walking without any help after 4 weeks of her knee surgery. Go for it Lynne.
