I am a fit 64 year old - up until relatively recently running 8-10k 3 times a week. when talking to neurologist over the phone in November I reported excellent health except for slight feel of wobble in my left leg. Since then I've started to feel left hip pain which I did exercises for which cleared it up; and now left knee pain which I'm finding less responsive to exercise - physio suggests it may be need for PD med review; osteoarthritis; weak muscle around the knee; weak tendon. does anyone have anything similar?

There are many possible causes. In my case I had what seemed like a sore knee but was actually soreness at the insertions of the vastus medialis muscle around the kneecap. Details here in last paragraph: healthunlocked.com/cure-par...
Have they eliminated arthritis? An x-ray looking for calcium deposits usually will show or eliminate. Acidic fruits and vegetables can help if it's not too severe. You can also pull muscles if pushing them too hard and too fast. Warming up and building up strength slowly and steadily is important. Slightly pulled muscles often show up as muscle cramps at night. That you aren't having foot blister issues sounds like you have already been running for a while, so the issue would be warming up before pushing yourself. You're also running far enough that good form is important. Apparently, you have good shoes and a good course, or you would have foot issues.
This may not be of much use but I’m 64 and have been running for over 30 years so what I’ve found is once I start getting leg injuries my runners probably need renewing, or if my knees start getting sore (usually after 3-6m) then I need to start taking my glucosamine tablets again. This usually clears up any problems I have, unless calf tear then I have to sit out for a couple months, and wonder why stopped doing my stretches. Sorry no PD so may not me relevant. Regards
My husband is getting good results with chiropractor. He ended up with one leg longer than the other and hip displacement. After so many years if walking with a forward motion for balance.
There are many causes and treatments for knee pain. However, there is one cause of knee problems that is never addressed but it is extremely common. When a part of the joint called the condyle misaligns it's going to cause pain and degeneration. I've treated many, many patients with knee pain and I would say that 80% would have condyle misalignment. The treatment is very simple but highly effective with many patients experiencing instant relief! I would call chiropractors and ask if they treat extremities and whether they can align condyles. Other treatments such as PT, Laser, myofascial release, cupping, vibration therapy, trigger point therapy, Kinesio Tape and orthotics should also be considered. Hope this is helpful !
I ran 50 miles a week for 40 years. Then PD struck. I tended to get knee pain when running in worn shoes. Often buying a new pair solved the problem. You mentioned a 'wobble'. Any muscle imbalance can cause pain. I'd suggest you check your shoes for wear and see a PT guy.
I was plagued with horrible pain in my left knee. After several appointments with gel shots, cortisone shots and meniscus surgery to no avail I had a knee replacement. The recovery was seriously 2 years. Even now I often still have pain periodically. Then the right knee started up. Same symptoms. I found a video called Knee Therapy. What I immediately noticed was not one exercise was any that I learned going to physical therapy after my knee surgery. Rather than jumping into surgery again I started doin g this knee therapy video. My right knee is so much better. No surgery, no more shots. I highly recommend this video. It has 5 knee workouts, one hip and a morning and night stretch routine. It’s called Growing Young. The instructor has several all geared towards seniors. Chair yoga, cardio, core, strength with weights and chair boxing. I feel so much better after I work out. Which is why I do it. Not to bulk up or lose weight but to feel better. Mary
hello everyonethanks very much for getting back to me on what you think may be the cause of (and what I can do about) my sore knee.
At the physio therapist's suggestion I've had a pelvis and 2 knees x ray (checking for osteoarthritis) (awaiting the outcome) and am now doing exercises to address what she thinks is a medial miniscus irritation.
she's hopeful that in 4-6 weeks I'll be back to running - here's hoping...
