Thanks to posts by Sunvox, I have been reading a lot about Vitamin B3 (specifically nicotinamide riboside), in addition to B1. I think/hope this story is worth sharing again.

Have you tried it? What was your experience? I am trying it now, on day 2.

I've only begun taking B3 about 5 days ago, but I'm optimistic. 😊

I started taking Niacin (B3) three days ago with 50mg and today increased to 100mg. I had a very mild flush and tingling in my face and going to increase the dosage gradually.

Kia,

I tried 3 times to take niacin with a slow increase in dosage, but "the flush" always got to me, especially in hot weather! I was only taking it to lower my cholesterol, but I just didn't deal with the flush very well so I ended taking food grade diatomaceous earth to lower my cholesterol. No flush and it works for the purpose with other health benefits at the same time!

To be honest with you , I liked the flush, it made me relax, though I just experienced very mild flush with a very low dose. I will update here once reached higher doses.

Kia,

Yes, at lower dose, the flush was kind of interesting, but at higher dose, not so much!

My problems started at 250mg and above and became intolerable for me. I got the standard heat flush which was expected , but I also got what felt like pins and needles feeling in the area of my adam's apple and around my jaw line and in the area just below the bottom of the ears which was very uncomfortable for me! Since I was taking it to lower my cholesterol, I also found articles which said that it sent the cholesterol to the liver which could be a problem for some people so that information just added to my decision to stop taking it and switch to DE which did lower my cholesterol and triglycerides with no flush at all.

I take a 250 mg capsule each morning and another 250 mg each afternoon. I haven't expected or experienced any immediate improvement, but the Tru Niagen seems good for the long term.

My husband has been taking 125mg niagen (b3 riboside) for a few weeks. He has also been on the b1 for the same period. His depression seems a bit better. Not sure what is working as he has also added more exercise, sun box and other vitamins and magnesium the same time. The niagen is expensive but no flushing at this level.

Same here. My husband has started B3 (Nicotinamide Riboside) but no flushing (whatever that is :)) so far.

Hey guys, Niagin (nicotinamide riboside) is not the same as the niacin that makes you flush. They are both forms of B3, but Niagin is the specific form that supposedly boosts NAD levels and cures whatever ails you. Maybe.

I've been taking it for about six weeks. Can't say I've noticed anything dramatic...but I already eat keto and that's supposed to boost NAD as well.

PS I don't actually take Niagin either--thats a brand name. I take a cheaper brand.

Good reminder. The form of B3 is nicotinamide riboside. I do take the brand name, Tru Niagen.

I read somewhere that they are all made under licence by one company (tru niagen) then onsold to the other companies to rebrand and add their own ingredients and repackage. So it should all be the same but I suppose it is possible other companies dilute it with plain niacin? We cant get Tru niagen in New Zealand as they dont ship here :(

There are multiple forms of B3. Do not confuse them.

Nicotinamide riboside should be on the ingredients label.

Patented form of B3 by the Chromodex company and they control / license anyone that is selling that form of B3. chromadex.com/ingredients-o... is there website.

As I understand it, testing is still in early phases and not much official on it except safety study and anecdotal stories (at least as far as human testing). Not even clear on what dosages should be. Appears to have similar story starting like B1 has going. This is new territory people so your mileage may vary. I am looking forward to more stories on this. Expensive stuff.

No. Working with my wife that has PD. Team effort. Researching NAD+ mostly.
