Getting your legs moving in the mornings
Does anyone have trouble getting your leg... - Cure Parkinson's
Does anyone have trouble getting your legs started moving in the mornings. I sometimes have to use a cane to get to the bedroom
Yes, its a problem. you go 12 hrs without meds and mornings there's not enough dopamine on board. some may benefit from slow release sinnemet that can take you through the night. mornings are my worst times.
Yes, I have difficulty with my legs in the morning also. I am not taking any PD meds so I can tell you for me it has nothing to do with coming of meds...its just PD. I also have back pain in the morning which eventually wears off in an hour or two (for the most part).
How long have you had Parkinson’s and did you ever use medication for it?
Around the second year that I had Parkinson’s I gave in and started taking them, it’s improve my life much but sometimes I question whether that was a bad decision?
Again my life is much improved in my quality of life but I worry about side effects?
Was wondering if you ever did take medication and quiet or if you never have?
Thx j
I can't take it - the meds give me hallucinations. I was diagnosed with PD about 4 yrs ago but I had it a couple of years prior to that.
I have never used PD meds, but I make sure I walk 15 kilometres per week, which is easy if you walk 1.5 kms morning and evening, five days a week...natural dopamine ...makes a difference ..use it or lose it..
I’m sorry!
I as well wasn’t diagnosed for years with it they kept telling me I had a benign tremor.
Thank you for Getting back to me
No, I have trouble not falling off to one side some mornings. I’ve learned to stand up slowly next to the mattress hold on to the bed bored and rock back-and-forth a few times before starting.
I try to do leg and arm stretches before getting out of bed which helps me.
You are probably willing your legs to move and that does not work for some of us Pd patients anymore. All movements we make without having to think about what our legs and arms are actually doing, give us problems. Those movements are controlled by the subconscious brain, and now you have to actually tell your legs to move and get up out of bed etc.

Yes, count me in. First of all, I feel terrible having been without meds overnight. Getting out of bed is the 1st thing. It's a challenge, considering I can barely roll over on my mattress when I want to change positions during the night. But the motivation is there = rise and shine or you won't get your meds to relieve your pain and suffering. Mustering all the strength & concentration I have, I shuffle slowly into the kitchen to find my morning meds.
I set a vibrating alarm for 5am and take my first pill then. Get up later in reasonable shape.
