What is Mannitol/Mannotol? Not sure which spelling is correct.

Mannitol has been used for years as a sugar substitute in diabetic foods. I purchase it on Amazon and use it in my morning coffee. However it is not very sweet so I still add a little of other sweetener in my coffee too. The recommended use varies from 2 tsp to 2 TBS per day.

I also have one side effect from the sweetener - which is excess non-smelly but embarrassing gas. So you might want to spread it over the day, or adjust the time you use it accordingly. It has been said that there is not a lot of research on Mannitol because it is already an FDA approved food, and no pharmaceutical company is going to make a profit selling it.

As suggested, if you search for Mannitol on this site or do an internet search for Mannitol and Parkinson's you will find some links to research that is promising.
