Check with his doctor first but, in my opinion, if it works and doesn't have a lot of side effects, then do it. Many of us have found that some things help some people but don't help others. So experimentation is a biggie in this disease.
The difficulty is that sugar is not great for people with PD. I think that if your father likes coconut water it would be a great alternative. Otherwise - smoothies? - although again, too much sugar, sen from fruit, may not be great.
I think, because it leads to an insulin and then cortisol release which then deactivates the parasympathetic nervous system - which is already challenged in people with PD. In other words, it increases our stress. For all of us, but the effects are more noticeable in people with PD.
Thanks. I guess this explains the positive results with the diabetes drug exenitude. There is a relationship between PD and diabetes. I wonder how much we can control the symptoms with careful diet. I have noticed when I eat sugar I feel more inner tremor.
