Miramex

As I said earlier I was on Sinamet, but it really made me sick. He put me on Miramex, which did stop the dry heaves, but now the tremors are horrible as is walking and speech. I see the Neurologist in a couple of weeks and hope to go back on Sinamet. Has anyone else had this with different meds?

Some people have been helped by taking smaller doses of the sinemet more often thus reducing the nausea.

The first dose was 6/ day. For a month then it was gradually changed to Miramex. Tremors didn't start right away, but really bad now.. hoping he can come up with something that will help me.

6 Sinemet a day at 25/100 Carbidopa levodopa each? That is a lot to start off with. Perhaps I misunderstood you. But if not, it makes sense that you were nauseated. I think usually we are started on three a day and each pill can be taken half at a time if we have nausea. Good luck with all this!

I am surprised your doctor did not prescribe extra carbidopa to relieve your tummy ache.

He did.. anti nausea , but I wanted something different. He is an amazing Neurologist .. and I'm going to have to learn to trust him

Six Sinemet a day is a lot to start with, I was put on 3 ( 25/100) no tremors yet .

My husband said I started 1/2 and increases it until I was full dose. Then 3/day on Miramex. Then we went slowly on Miramex. I'm sorry somestimes I can't think. Does anyone have this problem and also know in my head what I want to say, but just can't say it ?

I have found that drinking a full 16 ounce bottle of water with each dose helps amazingly with the nausea.

Domperidone has been an incredibly effective tool against sinemet-induced nausea. It has to be purchased through Canadian pharmacies but I found that to be easy.

sinemet will make you sick if you take it on empty stomach. You have to eat some crackers or something before you take it. What strength were you on. I am up to 100mg now and it works if I eat first. I also use Neuro patchs 6mg and take the sinemt 4 times a day. Be sure to eat something.

Yes...try taking half a pill. I still get nauseated but it only lasts a few min. It's tough but we have to experiment and no 2 PDers are alike. Try and keep your sinamet dose down as side affects...dyskinesia.... can be worse than your PD

There is no scientific evidence that sinamet causes dyskinesia. Rather it is the progression of the disease that causes it, and it would have come whether taking Sinamet or not.
