HiI'm getting a colonoscopy on Jan 5. I need to do a 2 day cleanse and am afraid of what it will do to me... What do u all suggest in lieu of sweet clear juices (what I have drank in the past) ? What else should I do during prep? Anyone have suggestions?

I've had four colonoscopies. No advice other than grin and bear it. You'll be asleep while they're doing rude things to you.

There are several reports here from people who were relieved of symptoms from being cleaned out.

For my colonoscopy, I followed directions and took my pd meds at the last minute allowed. That would have worked except once I arrived I had a long wait. Tell the gastromed office you are on pd meds that wear off - you don't want to be in the waiting room long. When I complained, they allowed me to take my C/L. But they should be able to better accomodate us.

As for the prep - chicken broth works best for me. Also, I'm much less hungry in the summer. Autumn is the worst for me.

Don’t worry about it… you may feel better after. Hubby gets a symptom free day the day after!

Jello, fruit popsicles/italian lemon ices, soup broth, lemon or lime candies, apple juice. I like to make sure I have some jello, soup broth and the hard candies to get different textures and feel like you’re eating.

If your system is really slow like hubbies you may want to have a miralax or something as much as a week before to make sure the two days is enough. He never gets fully clean even with 2-3 days of prep.

For what it’s worth, there is a new process that’s non-evasive called COLOGUARD. You simply mail in a stool sample in the kit they provide, and within about a weeks time results are provided to you via mail or email.

cologuard.com/

I used use this method because I’m not really a fan of the entire colonoscopy process. Plus my GP and insurance both blessed this new method.

Never having a colonoscopy done, I did see my wife after her first colonoscopy and she was out of it from being put under. Besides, me and anesthesia do not get along very well.

Which raises a further point, but isn’t there some concern about those of us with Parkinson’s going under anesthesia. I believe I heard this from my urologist, who stated that it was recommended that individuals with Parkinson’s be put under anesthesia or that they find an alternate method (whatever that would be?). Not sure if anybody’s heard anything to that effect?????

Beef broth! I like college inn, it tastes good. Or just take this opportunity to fast and this will induce autophagy, which will reduce your Parkinson's symptoms in most cases

Dr Mercola is a' fear-mongerer'. He points out the one tenth of one percent of people who might have a bad result of any procedure. He's not wrong but one tenth of one percent...? I saw him speak at a conference in Colorado Springs. He was warning about brain cancer caused by cell phones. Hi remedy was to use a stick to hold the phone at least 3ft from your ear.

HiI've had many Colonscopies since age 40 and had no issues with the procedure. My only concern is that now having PD I wont sleep for 2 days and the hell it puts on ur body running to potty every 5 minutes also scares me.

I don't understand why a colonoscopy would make you lose two days of sleep? Keep in mind, the colonoscopy is done to find cancers that are still small enough to be removed easily. A close friend eschewed colonoscopies because it was "Icky" and developed colon cancer and had a miserable death at age 55 because of it.

Because I already have trouble sleeping and having to go to the toilet a million times during the night will undoubtedly keep me awake....that is my true fear... No sleep = rough days
