Generic Azilect issues

I have been taking Azilect successfully for about 5 years. My neurologist retired and when my prescription switched to my new Dr., I was given the generic version. Nothing but bad things have happened since. Gastrointestinal problems, tremors in bed at night, left leg not functioning well, bad dreams with me yelling out loud in my sleep and scarring my wife.Insurance was charging me $50.00 for 30 pills. Now to switch away from generic they want $450.00 for 30.

Azilect worked very well for me. I’ve been able to keep working and stay active. My friends were shocked by my improvement when I began taking it. The generic is obviously a cheap imitation. I can’t believe it was approved. I can’t tell if it is doing any good!

Has this happened to anyone else?!

Generic versions of meds are truly different than the original. They have the same active ingredients but but have a different delivery system. The same generic med made by different companies have gave ne problems.

Thank you for your reply. I am finding out quite a bit about generics and their issues. Good luck and good health.

I’m not sure. I’ve been on generic since Jan 2017 and pronounced tremors just started to appear 2 months ago. Maybe just the progression of PD. The generic (I use) version is made by TEVA, the manufacturer of Azilect. Think the only way to be sure is go back on the brand. My cost would be over $500.

My tremors stopped last year and now they are coming back slightly at night when I'm trying to sleep. I found out that the generic version and Azilect are made by the same company!

I switched to the generic with no perceived changes in symptoms.

Finally back on name brand Azilect. The issue was with pharmacy. They went way beyond my expectations, but they were being charged more and were covering $200.00 each month. Very generous, but I had to switch to Walgreens to get the $50.00 per month price again.
