Is it okay to take antibiotics or painkillers while on senimed? I think my tooth is infected and I'm going on holiday I can't get tnto a dentist.

I'm not at home right now so I can't look at my chart, but I don't believe you are supposed to take Cipro. I can check later tonight if you need me to.

What antibiotics do you plan on taking with Sinemet? I am in Canada and I have been told not to take Tylenol but Advil is OK. Not sure either will help if you have an infected tooth though. Can't your GP help you out?

Our son recently had a kidney infection and suffered increased dyskinesia for 48 hrs until amoxicillin cleared the infection. During this period we reduced his usual Sinemet by half to give him relief from the unwanted movement. Our specialist said that the Sinemet was most likely affected by the infection as there was no known interaction with the amoxicillin.

I found the chart I have and the interaction for Cipro was for Dopamine Agonists like Requip & Mirapex. It says: Avoid fluoroquinolone antibiotics like Cipro.

I took Aleve for a mouth sore this week and my off period extended for hours instead of the usual 45 min. I don't know for sure if it was due to an interaction with the Aleve but I suspect so. But certainly an infection should be treated right away.

Never take Aleve when you have Parkinson's disease. I researched all the NSAID's and without a doubt the best one is ibuprofen. Middle ground is acetaminophen and worst of all, sodium naproxin (aleve). Acetaminophen has been shown to be neuroprotective but it depletes glutathione from the liver.....not a good thing. And acetaminophen will destroy the liver at high doses.

Years before I exhibited PD symptoms I was put on horse pill naproxen because of joint pain and shook like a leaf. I had to temporarily change the job I did and then changed back to my normal position after I finished taking naproxen.

What I am posting is more of a curiosity...strange facts....a distraction.... than a concern for you. From studying tuberculosis I know there are some interactions between TB antibiotics and levodopa. The front link TB antibiotic is called isoniazid and it definitely has poor interaction with levodopa:

The chances of you having periodontal TB are extremely rare and laughably low.

Linezolid is an alternative antibiotic to use in cases of drug resistant tuberculosis and there is a case of poor interaction between it and Sinemet:

What is most interesting is MAO inhibitors were developed to treat TB and linezolid is categorized as an oxazolidinone antibiotic. It just so happens that the antibiotic activity of oxazolidinones was discovered much later after their invention. Oxazolidinones were originally developed to treat PD:

Thank you for info.Couldn't get to a dentist but it turned out unbelievably that all that face pain was just a very nasty ulcer high up on my gum! However the tooth will need attention soon

One of the first natural products I used was OraMD and I had bleeding, receding gums.
