A family member was on sinemet and it played absolute havoc with their life, causing them to put themselves in very dangerous and out of character situations as a result of the compulsive behaviours.

I have always believed that the Dopamine agonists (Ropinirol) result in the greatest degree of compulsive behaviour and Sinemet is so much more efficacious than the agonist drugs anyway. I am assuming you are taking these drugs treat Parkinson's disease.

REQUIP!!!!!! Sinimet does not give me any compulsive behaviors..

I have taken both for 6 years(2X 25/100 Sinemet 4 times daily, 16MG Requip once daily)) - previously Ropinirol for 3 years. I have no compulsions now, well I can be impulsive but not over serious matters and I suspect I have always been a bit impulsive LOL

I did go through a spell of eating cakes and chocolate during the night. No matter whose house I was sleeping in, I raided the kitchen cupboards with no guilt. I think it was whilst on Ropinirol but honestly can't remember

I should add that when I started with Requip, I also started Azilect 1MG once per day and before Sinemet, I started Amantadine 100MG twice a day - and the addition of Azilect changed my life for the better (after 11 years with "The Beast", I am still pretty fit and active - train every day, boxing training twice a week, Circuit Training once a week, Yoga once a week with weight training in my home gym when I am not out or gardening)

Azilect 1MG, Amantadine 100MG twice a day, Two Sinemet 25/100 four times a day and Requip XL 16MG. I waken each day with cramps n my legs - especially thighs - and have to get up no matter what the time is to relieve my legs. If it is too early, I can usually get back to sleep. I believe it is he exercise that keeps me going, that and the belief I have in Azilect and Amantadine. Kind regards

I've had to reduce my Azilect to 1mg every other day due to the expense. I find no difference, but what will the ramifications be long term?

I'm afraid that I don't know the answer to that orange3257 - I'm not a medical person.

what I would recommend you doing is to join the Facebook group Parkinson's online chat room and pose your question there. it is an amazing group with over 1,000 members who are only too happy to share experiences
