Unless you do not like the taste of coconut oil (some people just don't) it is much more economical and 2 less pills to swallow just using coconut oil in your cooking or stirred into a cup of coffee or tea. If you are interested in using coconut oil as a way to raise ketones without having to go extremely low on carbs, it is recommended you go up to 5 Tbsp. per day. This is best done gradually to get the digestive system adjusted to the extra fat. Also, if you have added pounds, that's an extra 500 calories which have to be adjusted for by reducing other fats or carbs in your daily intake. MCT oil may also be used, especially first thing in the day. Some people mix the two together and refrigerate.

Hi thanks for your reply val

Gel caps?

1000mg gel caps are not near enough to the dose necessary.

1000mg = 1 gram / 1 Tablespoon = 14.25g

“Therapeutic levels of MCTs have been studied at 20 grams per day. According to Dr. Newport's calculations, just over two tablespoons of coconut oil (about 35 ml or seven level teaspoons) would supply you with the equivalent of 20 grams of MCT, which is indicated as either a preventative measure against degenerative neurological diseases, or as a treatment for an already established case.”

It tastes nice in morning hot drinks with a piece of biscuit. Much cheaper in cooking oil form. It eases my stiff joints.
