Have you sought a 2nd opinion, or done any online research? Is this something your doctor recommends to all or was there something about your mom's situation?

hallo. No, not that I know of... the one neurologist said she has a essential tremor and then she went for another opinion and this neurologist sais that she as PD - she needs to give her a referral to a neuro-surgeon - but said that she first needs to drink Carbilev for a month, and if this meds even makes her progress of PD better with 40%... then she can go for DBS surgery or treatment. ???? No article that I read about DBS it says that any patient first needs to drink Carbilev before going for the opp....???

I think the Dr. wants her to take the meds to see if they help her. I believe that in order to be a candidate for DBS the carbo/levo should work for you. Plus if it does he would know for sure that she has PD. I had DBS 5 months ago. Hope this somewhat answers your question.

thank you so much. sad though that she has to suffer from the meds first for the Dr to see if she has PD... think there is a much saver and healthier way to test this... but thanks for the reply :) xx

There is a detailed criteria for. DBS surgery. I believe one needs to have about 5 years of. PD history. As far as I know, it's a favorable on time with your PD Meds and not specific to carbidopa/levodopa. This is the first I've heard about Meds in liquid form. All of mine are pills and capsules.

I have been told that DBS is a last resort when the medicines are not working the way you and your doctor would hope they would, and this is after so many years of being on PD medication. I think you should see a neurologist that is a movement specialist. Going straight to DBS after being told that you have PD after a month> I have never ever heard of it. Please see a movement specialist.

She had PD for 5 years now, not a month and she went to a neurologist ( 2 of them).. The meds making her weak and has such a bad side- effect on her. Some people believe in meds ... WE and I don't.. We pray GOD will heal her!!! And opens doors...
