Be a great listener, without suggestions or critiques.

I agree with gran5.....just be there for her . You will be the best judge of how your friend will react to her husbands diagnosis. When she's ready, you can point her in the direction of reputable PD sites for further information and support. Initially, I suspect she will need to work on her own emotions.

If she wants to attend a support group meeting but doesn't want to go alone, offer to go with her. I know how alone I felt after hubby was diagnosed. He refused to attend the meetings and it was hard for me to go alone. I got a lot out of them and enlarged my circle of friends while I learned about the disease and how to cope.

Thanks all for your replies

By telling your friend of all the support Groups available and by offering to be contacted by someone like me who has been diagnosed for 10 years and still fairly fit and active and enjoying a full life3

Thanks froggat55, it's encouraging to hear from someone who is still enjoying life to the full 10 years after diagnosis :-)
