of a different drum. WE, the Parkinsons People certainly dance to a different drum. There's probably more celebrities that have it that we don't know about. I think it was Glenn Cambell who went on a tour with Alzheimers. Must have been hard on him. Parkinsons has MJ FOX as it's main man. He's a good spokesman. He's young and he's visible and is loved by many. His new show will probably have some "cringe" moments, but big deal. Maybe laughter is the key. Think of Parkinsons like PacMan. The blues are the disease eating things in it's path. The blues is a good name for those wicked critters. Then MJF's show starts and we all laugh along with Mike. The laughter yellows (I haven't played PacMan in a long time) find the blues and eat them, until there are no more. The yellows have won. Hey Michael, I have an idea. Publicize the healing power of your show and they'll never cancel you. They wouldn't dare risk the blues winning. Go get 'em Mike. Maybe Linda Ronstadt can play a role.

Loved Linda then; love her even more now that we have something in common. You still rock my world, Linda

Learning her diagnosis brought tears to my eyes, but my second thought was, "join the club.". The membership committee does not discriminate in any way, and the subcommitees (symptoms, meds, etc.) will challenge you in ways only the bravest can endure.

It was helpful (albeit painful) to hear about Linda's symptoms. They closely mirror my husband's...more instability, and no voice than tremors. She will be in my prayers along with the rest of you!

I saw her in an interview after the news was out and she looked much better than I expected. She did say her professional singing days were over. That's a loss at any age.

It was more unsettling to find out I had Parkinson's.

I read the newsflash in Rolling Stone, like most of us, she had symptoms for almost a decade before she was diagnosed...For me, those years of not knowing what was wrong were unsettling, as was the diagnosis.

Like most everyone, I loved her voice. We all have losses with this disease.

Celebrities are people too. You have George Bush Sr., diagnosed with Parkinson's, Mohammed Ali, Michael J. Fox, Johnny Cash, Katharine Hepburn, Billy Graham, Pierre Trudeau and Pope John Paul 2. There are a lot more.It is a disease that we deal with everyday.

There are more people with Parkinson's Disease than if you were to combine the number of people with Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy and Lou Gehrig's disease. Parkinson's is not just an elderly person's disease. Many young people have this, a few in their teens. It is nothing to be ashamed about. I wish we would all speak out and get recognition like Breast Cancer.

I like many with PD must fight against the effects of PD. But I will not go gently into the night but will rage against the dying of the light. PD tells the body to go one way but i will fight to make it go my way

Ram, love your attitude. i feel the same way....sometimes. There are times when i just have to let this damned disease have its way - i know i'll recover and fight it my way.
