I am not sure . I'm on sinamet , but I drink rarely ( and only on special occasions) and I have not noticed any effect.

Thanks I like to enjoy a few beers and I didn't want it to effect my on-off times.

I drink about 6 beers a day. I haven't had any problems.

i have just checked all the cartons and info leaflets for my PD meds. not 1 mentions alcohol so i will take that as a no, but i will temper that wit the comment that if i have more than 1 pint or 1 short, my reaction to alcohol is much more than ever before PD, and faster, too. and i get hangovers now after 2 drinks (since my cancer op in '87, until pd, i didn't get hangovers because it doesn't stay in my system long enough). and i object to renting the booze for short times, when everybody else gets at least another hour at the same cost

Does anybody have an opinion on the effectiveness of azilect. It is very expensive and I have read conflicting reports as to its benefits?

I don't know why Azilect is supposed to be so good. Maybe because you only have to take it once a day. I don't think it is good for anything except Parkinson's symptoms. Selegiline, however, is another anti-Parkinson's drug which is also an anti-depressant, and in Europe, where it is called Deprenyl, it is considered one of the best drugs for Alzheimer's and Alzheimer's prevention. Therefore, I would consider Selegiline a better drug.

I know Azilect must affect people in different ways but mine has been a positive experience. Several years ago--about 7-- my PD was slowly becoming worse and I was having difficulty with balance and gait. Within one hour of ingesting my first dose of Azilect I felt better and within one day my balance and gait problems were gone. I still take it and have had no side effects and consider it a miracle drug. As stated, it might not do the same for all PD ers.

I took it for a few weeks and had constant anxiety attacks even though I'm also on Xanax. I hated it.

It doesn't seem to matter if I drink or not!

my neurologist said it does not in moderation. I have 1 glass of wine or beer per day and have seen no effect.

I enjoy my beer but after 3 beers, that's it. My tolerance level has lowered in the past 10 years since having PD. I refer beer as my OTC since it does relax me.
