I am 78 and for several years I have lost all interest in sex. I miss this part of my life! Should I do something about it, or should I leaave it where it is?

That is an excellent question: Which came first the chicken or the egg. I too have lost all interest in sex and I also take medication for my prostate and one of the side effect is ED.

I can't even get excited enough to masterbait. I'm only 67.

Hello John,

I know that you take nothing for your Parkinson's symptoms, but you may want to consider mucuna pruriens which is a herb used frequently in India for the treatment of PD. It has the welcome side effect of being an aphrodisiac. There is much written about it having this quality on the Internet. For those who want to take it as an aphrodisiac only, I think that it will be necessary to take it consistently and that merely popping a mucuna prurien capsule when you feel amorous will not work. Although I have never needed to consider Viagra, perhaps this may be a better option for some.

Hi Norton

You give new meaning to being, "Full of beans". Thanks!

I discovered that some PD meds reduce prolactin I think it is and cause erectile dysfunction. Discuss this with your Dr and see if you can get one of those tried and tested little blue pills to help out. I'm not sure if the libido suffers in the same way though.

Hi soup

As I no longer take any Pd meds, it can't be caused by those. The little blue pills do absolutely nothing for me.

Hi MyownPOV

Life can be very funny at times! It is, at these times, very amusing. I have to laugh at myself these days. What has taken up so much of my thinking in the past, is now not worth thinking about. Was I wasting my time, all those years?

nothing is wasted . . . it's all part of life. live and learn :D

John,

I can not accept that you were wasting your time thinking about things in the past, which are not now worth thinking about. Given your circumstances at those times how could you have thought differently? It is clear that you are a thinker, for if you were not, how could you have written a book on Parkinson's with well thought out suggestions to help us PwP's.

I repeat my suggestion in another post to consider Mucuna Pruriens for a length of time to see the effect? Of course, it may interfere with the amount of time you spend on the road because you may well be spending time doing other activities!

Hi Norton

You make this possibility sound so plausible. I would dearly love to go back a few years and enjoy life to the full again. But hey! WE can't live in a dream world. This is raelity! My question is a very serious one. Am I asking too much of my body? Is it perfectly normal for a man of 78 to not need sex in his life at my age?

If it is, then I am wasting everybody's time.

I am following up on the Mucuna Pruriens. Are you taking it?

John

Hello John,

I am serious too.

I am 67yrs old, so I have no experience of what I would be like at 78. I obviously have read that Parkinson's can affect that part of our lives, but I am pleased to say that I still enjoy being able to function in that area.

Yes, I do take Mucuna Pruriens 3x a day together with half a Sinemet tablet each dose for my parkinsons symptoms. Whether or not it is the Mucuna Pruriens that keeps my libido up I can not say for certain, but there are many references on the Internet to it having aphrodisiac qualities and if I could not perform as I do, I would certainly try it out for some time. Somèthing else to consider is the nutrient NADH, which every cell in our bodies needs. It can have the same effect if taken for several weeks.

Hi John

ED was my first PD symptom 4 years ago. I was dx with PD 18 months ago. I will be 60 in April.

I have tried all the pills, creams pumps, snake oils etc to get things working again but with no success. Testosterone therapy helped with libido but not wth the erection. Trimix injections worked for a little while but not now. Having said all that I still get night wood occasionally but it is short lived when I wake up. I think it is the intimacy with my wife that I miss the most. My other symptoms don’t bother me as much. I am thinking that maybe I have MSA not PD as ED, urinary issues as well as no tremors are common in MSA. I will have to mention it to the neurologist next visit.

It’s Christmas Eve, no more feeling sorry for myself!

Happy Holidays Everyone!!!

Count your blessings, all you PWP AND functioning libido! I was diagnosed with PD in 1999 and am now 69. my wife made the unilateral no more sex decision. so I have been celebate all these years in spite of my libido

Hi Paroo4

Sex has a very important role to play in our daily lives. It is one of the needs in our lives that both parties share, together with eating. I hate eating alone and I would hate having sex on my own. If one partner, for whatever reason, does not need or want sex, then it robs the other partner of a very basic need. We all enjoy doing things together, it strengthens the bond between us.

I would dearly love to share this need with my partner, whom I hope to marry in the very near future. She is a wonderful person, who understands my inability to satisfy that need of hers. She is a very unselfish and supportive person.

I would assume that you are also unselfish and undersatnding of your wife's problems and I admire you for it.

I think it is the PD. Some of the dopamine agonists cause hypersexuality. But a huge portion of the PD guys (perhaps 50%) have ED. I'm planning to meet with a urologist who knows a lot about PD since I read that large dose cialis (100mg) works well on PD patients. I want to find out how unsafe/safe that is. Also consider that your testosterone levels are likely very low at your age. A few years ago doctors were afraid that testosterone replacement therapy(TRT) increased likelihood of heart attacks. More recently they seem less afraid about TRT. You might have to ask an endocrinologist to get an accurate answer on that one.

Yep , I think it is the PD, and the prostrate, and being over 70, and the medication especially when just putting your socks on causes you to breath fast.

It could be natures way of trying to avoid old men fathering more children. Like cognitive impaired people who continue to go out and walk on the lake ice on the first freeze . Its natures way.

I agree but it's such an enjoyable activity I'm just not ready to give it up yet. Best WIshes!

The subject deserves a more detailed discussion , but it is difficult in such politically correct environments . I can feel their cold breath behind me ready to pounce on this conversation.

I think it depends on you, but if you want to do something with this you should consult your doctor. I think the only one way to deal with that is to use viagra pills, but you have to be very careful with them, at least you have to know the side effects and to know when and how you should take them. It will be great if you will read this article andrikofarmakeio.com/kamagra/ it will show you all the useful tips and places where you can buy those pills, I am pretty sure they will ignite you and your sexual desire
