I worry about that. So I skip some nights whenever I can.

My doctor did not tell me to go slowly so I just cut the pill in half (.25). But I'm not feeling as well as before. A second doctor told me it was supposed to be difficult.

Problem with more than one doctor - they don't all agree. Why are you taking it?

I would like to go off...seems impossible!

I take it because when I lay down at night and try to fall asleep I can sometimes feel those internal tremors and they scare me. Then I start worrying about it.

Your idea to taper down is the way to go if you really want to go off. I wonder though why you want to. It is not like you are a teenager abusing the stuff, you have a real medical concern.

I wanted to ease up on sleeping meds because I'm drowsy during the day. I am 72 and it's hard to know what's due to aging, what's PD. Only PD drug I'm taking is Azilect. Sinemet gave me high blood pressure spikes. I've been on Paxil since 2011.

I tried this Klonopin and hated it after about 30 days. Made my head very spacy and had difficulty thinking and remembering. I take Amanadine for my internal tremors and it works for me.

I agree with Bitbit about worrying about drugs that you are taking. I think Sinemet and the future of it has scared all of us. It's good to see that they are addressing the non-movement issues of PD like restlegs, sleep and worry. I finally realized I was depressed and had been for a long time. Didn't know why I felt so bad even tho my movement disorder was not bad at all. I'm on anti-dressent and feel much better, including pd symptoms and restless legs seem better, too. I'm turning 70 this mo., it's time to realize that I'm not going to have to deal with this too much longer to have to worry about substance abuse. I want the relief NOw.

Hello Allnatural,

Sorry to go off topic to the original question, but to address the depression you have experienced, Curcumin is supposed to be also good for this condition with probably far less side effects.

Hi Norton - I will try to go natural on this issue as well - especially to keep close to the name I took up for t his site - before I am on this Lexapro for too long. It's the only tway the neuro knows how to treat - the pharma way. After my one month trip back from the States with turmeric on hand and after I have rcovered from a fractured tibia ( minor one, next to the knee ) I fell while walking my dog the other day. Groan............... have ato be in a splint while travelling. Thanks always for your suggestions - I admire your tenacity to deal with PD naturally, especially your sticking to your nutrition program..

Thank you Allnatural,

A trawl of the Internet will come up with several references saying that CURCUMIN is a 'potent' antidepressant.

I will research this. Clearly, I'd rather use curcumin than something that will make me more dependent or have to keep taking more of as time goes by. Thank you.

Me, too. I will probably take Paxil forever.

Klonipin is very difficult to get off. You must wean yourself slowly or suffer bad withdrawal symptoms. I have done it already ! Also my neuro has told me that klonipin is not a parkinsons-specific drug. Good luck. Half ur previous dose for 2 weeks, then half again, for 2 weeks.....and so on til ur done .Took me three tries!
