Sorry more questions. Is there any defina... - Cure Parkinson's
Sorry more questions. Is there any definative test for PD?
Not that I am aware of.
I think not.
First they see if you fit the profile.
Then they rule out other possible dxs.
In my case I had to get an eye exam to rule
out Wilson's Disease, (too much copper, who knew?
Besides Wilson I mean.)
Then they prescribe the meds, stand back, and see what happens.
Sounds kinda primitve, don't it?
On the meds . My tremor that i had all my life stopped, My mom & cousin both had Parkisnsons. I have 9 of 10 of the non movement symptom but not the agte or masking, The did the heavy metal tests. My doctor didnt think I had till she saw how different I was on the meds (and I rattled off a bunch of things that I thought had nothing to do with it, I can deal with stuff if i know what it is. Been living with Hep C for at least 12 years , most like 25. Some days I can do a million things, I was so active. Much of the time I feel like my life is happening somewhere else. Things keep getting weirder, like not wanting to leave the house, even when Im not fatigued, and aching- Wont answer the phone,,,on the other hand I can jump onstage and for an hour all is well,,,I watched my mom being mis diagnosed for all my life . She was had text book symptoms and lousy docyors. I feel as if she new whe would have been kinder to herself..Now she with the Angels, (in heaven not the baseball team...) thank u wish you health and joy
I had something called a DAT Scan ?
My doctors said no--that the meds work is the most definitive sign. Who knows?

Another reason to find a doctor who is well versed in PD. SO much trail and error. with medication, yes if it works you've got it. HOwever I was "Tested" by a PD specialist. He just watched me for 20 mins and his educated eye caught my body movements that were indicative of PD. HE noted stiffness, my holding my right hand that was tremoring slightly at the time, He checked my writing, and my reflexes. He watched my balance ad gate
