Methrotrexate is a drug that’s used very sparingly because of all the possible side effects like liver damage and so onYou should be very carefully monitored when you’re on this. The prescriber already knows about all the side effects.
Dont worry too much, your bloods will be monitored. I had heard the risk of lymphoma was low. Its a risk with some of the biologics too. You need to control the side-effects of the flare-up with something now so that you don't end up with bone damage which is irreversible so you may as well stay on the methotrexate while you look for alternatives, if it works. It didn't suit me and I was put on a biologic after 6 months of methotrexate (I have psoriatic arthritis). Those are really expensive and have side effects also. I was on both Humira and Orencia, which worked but gave me awful mouth sores. I have since come off all medication by taking dairy and red meat out of my diet. It would be worth thinking back to anything new in your diet or lifestyle before your flare-up. Read "Inflamed" by Shelley Malone for a really good list of what causes inflammation. I use spirulina and turmeric to calm down inflammation when I accidentally take dairy. I take 1200mg turmeric with black pepper every day. If you were symptom-free before you should be able to get back there once you get this flare under control so you may not need to be on the methotrexate for long. Best of luck
Dejar el tratamiento o no asistir a los controles, no ayuda en nada con esta patología; sería ideal que consultaras con tu doctor, pues deben existir otros medicamentos; si estás con una crisis, es por demás recomendable que visites a tu doctor
