Inflamed muscles feel like tough meat...

Hello again...

This is my 2nd post of the day, but I am really hoping to hear if anyone can relate to this problem.

Due to a new insurance plan, I haven’t had my biologic (Remicade/Infliximab) in 10.5 weeks (I know this a major cause behind my pain). With me not having it for so long now, my muscles have returned to a state I haven’t seen in years. They feel what I call “gritty”, like tough meat. They feel lumpy (I know this is from all of the inflammation) and just roll around under massagers/pressure; there is no give whatsoever. When I started Remicade/Infliximab infusions a little over a year ago, my muscles became, for the first time in a VERY long time, more fluid...somewhat NORMAL feeling. The pain was still there, but I could feel a difference in the TEXTURE of my muscles. I would be so grateful to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences in regards to their muscles feeling: granular, rigid, massed, lumpy, etc, or if anyone can relate to experiencing a range of muscle textures.

Hi! I'm so sorry you are not getting your biologics. Had you try calling the pharma industry that produce them and get the number of their foundation for people that have no coverage?

MaggySa-

I have a patient savings program through the manufacturer and I do have health insurance, but my plan from last year (I’m in the US) was discontinued, so I got a new plan. The authorizations through the new plan is what’s causing the hold up...so unbelievably frustrating!

Have you looked into trigger points therapy (and is not the same thing as acupressure points!). I had the same painful knotty feeling in my legs muscles and have been able to overcome to a degree the soft tissue pain. I would warmly recommend you to buy the book ‘The trigger point therapy workbook’, the self-treatment guide for pain relief byClair Davies. Best wishes
