RA flares

Having a rough time today. I awoke with a swollen, tender, red and painful left wrist and right ankle. I have been off Prednisone for 10 days. Call into my rheumy doc but I am guessing he will put me back on Prednisone and up the dosage. Rats!

I really dislike prednisone, I gained so much weight...are you on a daily medication?

Luckily, I have not gained weight or had any side effects from Prednisone. My RA medication is Methotrexate, 7 pills one day a week. Pain is handled by Tramadol. I have lots of allergies and cannot take Chloroquin and others like it. Although I am not fond of Prednisone because of the possible side effects, it has helped me out many times.

I am also NOT a big fan of prednisone, though it has helped with the pain. It has really increased my appetite and I am continuing to gain weight. I just started Enbrel about 3 weeks ago and am hoping it will kick in soon and I can get off of prednisone. Have you tried any of the DMARD's or biologics yet. My rheumy tells me that the prednisone helps somewhat, but does not do the entire job.

I'm hoping you are feeling better soon (without more prednisone)
