Hi, I am currently waiting for a GI appointment after calprotectin levels were in the 600’s. I have had numerous tests over the last few months as symptoms came on suddenly in January. I have had no diarrhoea but had a few days of urgency, but then getting to the toilet and not actually doing much. Bowel movements were very thin and ‘fluffy’ but no worse than that. My main problems were the feeling of pressure under my left rib cage as well as against the top of my left hip. Also had back pain around area of left kidney (apparently there is a large chunk of bowel behind it) and urinary frequency. This all led to malaise, dehydration and then an undiagnosed uti leading to a kidney infection. The doctor has said my calprotectin levels indicate IBD but I am very aware my symptoms aren’t the norm. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar? I am feeling so much better now than I was, but some days the symptoms flare back up again. Many thanks!

Thanks for replying to my post. Your symptoms are almost identical to mine, although mines are the right hand side. No bleeding etc. I’ve now been getting pain in my spine/ top of back and shin bone for some strange reason. And have had two random bruises appear on my shin too. My white blood cells are just below normal, mines are 3.9 and normal is 4 and above..... I’ve to retest in 4 weeks I’m worried sick tbh. They don’t seem to be in a hurry tho. I hope you get some answers soon!!

Hey, I too get the left sided pain, which unfortunately gets confusing as I do have kidney stones each side but my doctors are sure the pain and symptoms are gut related, I had a ct and ultrasound to show my kidney stones have not moved. I have been seriously off my food for about 8 months, no hunger or desire for food. Pain, wind and bloating when I do eat. Gurgling noises, popping and swooshing, like a party going on every night. Diarrhoea, nausea and cramps nearly every day and terrible pains at night that put me in hospital 2 weeks ago. They checked my kidney stones, had leukocytes in my urine, gave me morphine and antibiotics and sent me home. I am exhausted. Lost nearly a stone in the last month.

My coeliac test came back the high side of normal, but they're saying its unlikely coeliac disease, and my calprotectin was only slightly raised (75). Got gastro appt in 2 weeks and the misery continues until then. I've been reading about splenic flexure syndrome, this might be the point of pain in the left?

Hum have just read up on that... possibly something to consider! Sorry you have been so poorly, it sounds miserable. I was doing so much better but have been hit with another uti so put back on antibiotics. Never had one before all of this and now twice this year. The tummy noises I get the same as you after eating, lots of grumbling and movement, like being pregnant again! I am the opposite with appetite though, I am so hungry and feel really shaky and light headed if I don’t keep topping up the food. X

It's good you're able to eat, I'm existing on activia, ritz crackers and chicken 🤣

I am worried about being off my work, but can't function in this state. Was woken with pain this morning just before 6am and the cramps haven't stopped since. My referral came through for 30th may, do you have one yet?
