I'm in so much pain and discomfort with my bowel. I came on my period today, and it's made my stomach symptoms worse. I wondered if anyone else had their symptoms worsen when they are having their periods.
I have had these symptoms worsen when I have my periods every month.
The bloating, the needing to empty my bowels more, more blood in stools, worse pain, etc - are the symptoms.
I haven't been diagnosed with Crohn's or colitis, but I'm awaiting testing.

hi, yeah I too suffer more during period. my gastro reassured me that it is normal and some women without IBD can have diarrhoea and can be due to the changes of hormones. I just take pain killers (paracetamol and codeine) to help, codeine will also reduce the amount you need to go to the loo as it will help firm the stool. I am stubborn and dont take pain killers as I should but for a few days every month I have to give in. I hope that this is of some help. and good luck xx
