Considering buying one as it is getting colder outside and thought on my rest days I could use it to walk.

I have a reebok t3.1 treadmill. bought it second hand off ebay for about £180. has motorised incline & does up to 12mph I think. if you are going to buy one that you might run on then please make sure that the one you get has a long, wide deck area to run on. my treadmill is huge. takes up a lot of space & very very heavy (moved house & it was definately a 2 man job). you can also programme it but I havent ever used that bit. I would totally recommend this one as it is just as good as the ones at the gym. have heard bad reviews about the reebok irun model as it is very small so might be best to avoid that one. I would say though that reeboks after care service is fantastic. I had a small problem with mine shortly after getting it & didnt have a receipt so therefore no warranty, but they were happy to email over the service manual & fault was fixed without any problems by hubby.

best bet would be to contact a sports shop & ask them. they'd probably want you to go in & try some out to see what you think. also reviews online can be very helpful.

good luck. shelley

I have a Maxima Fitness one. Very happy with it. Amazon is a good place to have a look at reviews on different machines. I spend hours researching before I bought mine from there on a special. Be aware that some treadmills are more aimed at walking so be sure to check the max speed.

I have a Pro-form 360p. I have had it a few years, and never had any problem with it. It is heavy and big, but the running base does fold up. It has no programmes on it, just manual adjust for speed and incline. It has been abused a bit as well (according to my son he has tried skateboarding and cycling on it!!) The running shop where I had my gait tested also had the same treadmill!! It can be used in Miles or Km as well, and the highest speed is higher than anything I am likely to want.

I am going tonight to look at folding treadmills at a showroom and will report back on what I find to be useful.

I really want to continue running 3 times a week but dont want to run in the dark before or after work so it looks like this is the only option along with weekend runs.....

I bought my mill because I didn't fancy the prospect of running in the wet, cold, dark evenings ... I did a lot of reading to find what I thought was the best balance between price & features - finally settled on a Reebok Z9. It's pretty big but that's because the deck is big enough to run without worrying about falling off! It does fold, which will help if you're short on space. It's heavy (so very stable) but has wheels i you do need to move it. Shop around and you'll get a great deal.

Two bits of advice. First, make sure you get one with powered incline. That will let you adjust as you go along rather than have to get off to change the setting and will make it much more likely that you'll run with an incline. Secondly, when you do get your mill, try to avoid using it too much too soon. It's a great novelty, but I started using it every day too soon, and with too much of an incline too soon. That gave me a pain in my heel. It's a known problem which can give you real problems. I stopped running for a few weeks and am only now (and slowly) building back up. But, that bit of overtraining apart, I've no regrets in investing in my mill. It IS harder than running outside, but just being there within a minute of bed and the shower means I actually do it more than intend doing it (:->)

Hope my experience helps, & hope you enjoy using your mill!
