Had a suggestion of "fiftyplus" as a tag for the more mature runner!
It's been brilliant getting older runners comments particularly female. Keeps you motivated.
Completed Week 9 Run 1 yesterday but battling to get any speed up at all.

I see age as just a number I'm only 26 Haha I sometimes think that the older you are the better you are at some things, having patience being one of them, also endurance. So if my philosophy is right we have an advantage to some degree. If there is a question being presented for the more mature would be runner its a smashing idea.
I'm thinking that once we've completed Week 9 and graduated (yay!), we'll have more freedom to chose what form of exercise we do and I'm planning to do some of the 5K+ podcasts. Possibly doing one Speed and one Stamina session a week and a longer run just for me at the weekend. Once I've got my speed up and feel physically stronger then I'm planning to do the 5 - 10k plans.
After many years as an overweight, sedentary woman I expect to be slow, but don't want to be last a my first parkrun!
I've been doing 4.3km in 30mins. I don't have anyone to compare my speed with, but it seems slow to me. Ive completed Week 8 today.
You'll get there
Age is just a number! As soon as my injury is healed I'm back out there running. As soon as I graduate - and I will - it's the 5K+ program and then 10K. I don't want a 50+tag! I think I'm as good as the rest
I don't think we need a 50+ tag. As far as I'm concerned I can run as well as 50- runners!
OK, I won't be as fast as young 19 years old trained runners, but I'm no less fit than someone half my age who may be overweight and/or doesn't regularly climb 4000ft hills or cycle 50K.
On Facebook this morning, Baxter's Loch Ness Marathon shared a story about a 56 year-young woman who has run every Loch Ness marathon for the past 10 years never finishing outside the top 10.
I'm slightly taken aback at people being so worried about speed before graduating. As far as I'm concerned just getting through it is enough without worrying about distance or speed. Actually I have been under the impression that my 'run' is actually slower than walking but tonight I actually passed a pedestrian.
I'm not so keen on the tag to be honest, I'm happy being over 50 but I don't want anyone using it as a title. Over 20,30,40,50,60 or even 70 is just the same, we're all trying to achieve our own targets.
CONGRATULATIONS in making it to week 9!!!!! I am 49 and dare say I am reminded every time I look in the mirror that my 25 year old self is not looking back! Age is a sense of attitude, I may not be physically 100% fit, but I know I am in better shape than a lot of 25 year olds due to poor diet, exercise etc. I notice concern too in how fast people are running at the end of the C25K program. I go s...l...o...w...and KNOW I will finish compared to trying to do too much to soon. I may not be fast, but 7 weeks ago I wasn't moving at all on my couch.
Good idea about the 50+ tag if it were optional. I have high hopes I'm going to wake-up as a 19 year old again!
