Having had a few days break between runs this week as I've been of work and workmen have been arriving at 8am, I've been on the treadmill this morning and have struggled yet again to get to 30 mins. I managed 28 but 24 of them were at a 0.1mph increase to usual pace which I am pleased about as I would like to be able to go a little quicker sometimes
When I use the podcasts for interval training I can manage the 30 mins at faster speeds, yet I am struggling to get there under my own steam at usual pace or thereabouts.
Sometimes I think I could do with a longer podcast to make me keep going! I have also decided that once my C25K t-shirt arrives I am going to start 'running' outside when I can, providing it fits as I think the boredom of the treadmill has finally got me and I have loved the 2 Parkruns I have done, even though I haven't ran them all the way round!

DId you increase the incline and the speed to make it hard to do the usual 30 minutes??
I am assuming you are doing the Speed podcast?... and you do the 30 minutes... hmmm..sounds like it is intervals that are easier. I haven't tried any of them yet as I am just back to getting in my 30 minutes after my little relapse from holidays.
I think I will plan on doing the 30 minutes for a while with a short recovery walk and then maybe a short interval at the end with increased speed.
No I didn't change anything I just think I need the challenge of the podcasts again, it feels so much harder to keep going when I try and do it under my own steam.
I've been using week 3 podcasts for interval training as I still find the last running section quite tough at a higher speed. I'm aiming to move up through the weeks as I go. I am only a slow plodder, but I'm moving and thats what counts!
I tried the speed podcast this morning and OMG, I found it tough. My thighs and bum are already aching from it. I had to walk on the slower running bits to get my breath back but made sure I completed the full podcast. I shall try it again on Thursday as I think I prefer intervals!
I personally like the intervals.. always did. I have a built in program on my treadmill, but it won't work for what I need right now. I think I will mix them up, longer runs with other days of intervals. I have been using my own music which I do like... but have to admit I miss Laura talking to me..
So maybe I am not the only one who at week 9 was asking herslf... " Do I really like these long runs??"
I do still question whether this running lark is for me... maybe I would feel differently if I ran outside, I don't know, but I just don't have the confidence to wobble my way through our village and surrounding areas. I think I might have to start the programme again outside.... in my Graduate t-shirt to give me the confidence I can do it!!
