I completed 7.34 km today - which including the 5 min warm up walk took me 45 minutes. My average pace was 9.6 kph, but I am still struggling up hills and with my breathing - can't go any faster!
But I have nothing really to compare it with - am I slow, average or what?

You are only going slow if you think you can go faster but don't. It's all relative.
If you are going as fast as you can you are going fast!
But all that cobblers aside that's about bang on 30 minute 5k pace with some of it at a walk! Which is nothing to be sniffed at so presumably if you put yourself in a 5K race you would be somewhere around 28mins which is good. You would be mid-field at my local Parkrun.
So that's how you know if you are fast or slow - GO DO A RACE!
