Today was a beautiful day! I ran for the first time this week (it seems that even if a busy week doesn't stop a runner, Christmas can. I couldn't run my first run this week.
I ran out thinking that I would only run a shorter rest route. But: It was so beautiful and I, a fool, thought to myself that if I managed a long route last time in the rain and wind... and when I had a break, I could do it this time too.
Now I know that after the break the free running and short courses start again!
When I was halfway there and there was no turning back, my left knee started to hurt. I had to stop several times and somehow stumbled to the finish line. Added to this was the pain from the rolled up socks (I can't solve this mystery!).
I remembered a quote by Dr. Henry Cloud:
"A fool doesn't change when he's hit with a truth he can shake off.
Fools change when they realize and feel the consequences, and when the pain of not changing is greater than the pain of changing."
I was warned but I thought I was smarter. I got what I deserved.
Next time I will take the advice of the wise runners here and not play the hero.
If I manage to run on Friday, it will definitely be a rest run.
And yes, I learned my lesson. I will not overwork my strength after rest days!
Happy running! 👍
