Sometimes you need a bad run to appreciate that ups and downs are part of the process

Week 7 Run 3 on Friday was dreadful. Felt so slow and thighs ached badly afterwards. I had very little sleep the night before so energy and motivation were low. Managed to complete my 25 minutes through gritted teeth, and didn't even enjoy my little 60 second dash at the end. I thought that I was a rubbish runner and really felt like giving up. Read a few posts on here and took a couple of days off. This morning (W8R1) still felt a bit tired but thought I'd see how things felt and try to enjoy my surroundings. I run through a lovely park with a boating lake and a wooded area. The sun was shining, I put on some dance music and my legs seemed to know what to do today! Really enjoyed my 28 minute run. Having bounced back from a bad run I'm feeling more optimistic about 1) completing the programme and 2) keeping up 3 x 30 minute runs each week. I'm never going to be a fast runner but my stamina is definitely improving.

We all have those tough runs, glad the next one was better and restored your confidence

Well done you... successes and set backs and all on this great journey! Are you upping some of your rest day core strength and stamina work not that the runs are getting longer?

Keeping the running legs is essential, but keep ing the rest of the running body in tune too ! Loads of ideas on our sister forum Strength and Flex...x

Thanks Oldfloss. I'll take a look at the S&F forum for some ideas.
