Follow up to my wondering if my treadmill or Fitbit was more accurate.

I’ve reached the 30 minute runs and I’m ready to take this outdoors. I ran (on the treadmill) yesterday, so I decided to walk 5k outside and compare Fitbit and Runkeeper results. I took before and after pics of my Fitbit app and the Runkeeper result.

The Fitbit gave me .86 miles less! Not sure why I can only post one picture. Fitbit started at .57 mi and ended at 2.81 mi. Big difference!

Interesting, my husband and I walk together regularly and we both have a fitbit. Mine is a Charge 4, his a Charge 2. Mine always reports that I walk half to three quarters of a mile less than him. Both are correctly calibrated. We are used to it now but mighty annoying in the beginning.

Like I said... Fitbits are not dedicated running watches and they won't have invested as much as other companies into their GPS technology.

If this is a concern and you don't want to spend too much on a new device, have a look at the Garmin 35 and 45 models.
