Hi Does anyone have any tips for running on ice please? My running shoes are Nike Invincible but despite searching I'm not sure how effective they are on icy roads.

Icy Roads
Top tip for running on ice? Just don’t! Ice is the one thing that stops me running outdoors. Well, maybe snow or a storm too but you get the idea. It really isn’t worth it. I’d either run on a treadmill or do some strength/flexibility work, or take an extra day or two of rest until it’s safe.
Trust me, you don’t want an injury.
Hi Petra888 , personally I don't run when it's properly icy. I'm simply not prepared to take the risk of slipping or falling, especially as where I live there's nowhere flat. I wear trail shoes to run in snow as there's no way my road shoes could cope.
You can get crampons such as YakTrax to attach to your shoes, if you do want to go ahead. I've never bothered though. As for technique, when I'm running in snow or on slippery surfaces in general, I find it helps to take smaller steps and lean slightly forward. Don't be afraid to stop and walk when you need to.
But unless you live somewhere where you'll have to deal with ice for weeks or months on end, and have no choice, I'd advise you to avoid it altogether. It's not worth the injury risk.
Do you mean icy roads or do you mean ice ?
I have been out this morning and it was a little icey, but kept to the bits where the sun was shining onto, but to be honest i wouldnt chance it, i prefer jogging outside but i do have a treadmill tucked away in my bedroom for those occasions when i dont want to chance it when it gets really icey, it is annoying as there is nothing like running outside, i am 59 and have weak bones so easily breakable. I broke my foot 3 years ago at a wedding and dont want to go through anything like that again!
Don't...loads to keep you active until the ice melts... MissUnderstanding is correct!Check out Catch up Corner for alternatives !!!
I injured my IT band by doing a long run on icy paths and it took ages to mend. Don't do it! Keep safe 😀👍
Got all the gear, music, etc. on yesterday. 20 seconds into warm up - slipped. Turned for home dissappoi. Just not worth it.
I went out on Thursday but waited until it had reached the heady heights of 0 degrees ☀️. Most pavements had thawed on one side or the other so I kept crossing over but there were bits where I just had to walk. I just embraced those bits and enjoyed the rest it gave me. Perhaps walking is a better choice on icy days if you still want to get out and about. The winter sunshine was gorgeous 😊.
