hi guys, wondering if anyone has found the same. I did the 20 min run in week 5 tiny bit tough towards the end but did it no stress. Yet I’m on week 6 run 2, 10 min run 3 min walk and then 10 min run and I’m struggling, why and how? 😂 I could do the 20 mins straight and not this…Iv had to re do this run twice now as struggling with it before I go on to the 25min. Any help be appreciated

Week 6 catches a lot of people out after the elation of non stop running for 20 minutes. Take it really slow, 10 minutes twice takes the same time if you are plodding or sprinting but at this stage plodding will keep you going til the end As the runs got longer I ran slower and ended up finding my slow was faster than the first few runs when I ran flat out gasping for breath.

This is VERY common!

Which is why when someone posts about completing week 5 we would normally warn about week 6 runs 1 and 2

Most people will feel it should be easy after 20 minutes continuous running and generally set off too fast .

The program will also teach you to pace yourself!

Start slowly so you have the energy to finish.

That one was tough for me, as it is for many people. Was looking forward to getting back to intervals “for a rest” and then found it really disrupted my flow. Must have been becoming a runner 😂

As people have said, take the pace slow and if you’re not walking, you’re running. So the run and walk sections can be as slow as you need. There’s no time limit on the programme and no run is wasted. Every single run is making you stronger and better. You’ve got this

Hi @Jojobartlett , well done on getting to week 6. As others have said, it's far from unusual to find run-walk intervals difficult after completing W5R3.

Give yourself permission to go as slow as you need, so you're running at a pace at which you could carry on a conversation. It's much better to feel you have something left in the tank at the end of your run than to struggle to get through.

Also, if you haven't looked at the programme guide - healthunlocked.com/couchto5... - please do. There's lots of useful information in it;

Enjoy progressing through C25K!
