Though I knew about the NHS plan for years and started couple of times which I couldn't go beyond week 2. This time it seems to be working. completed week5 and run2. Reading this forum and some preparation/reading helped to correct few mistakes I guess. Super excited!
(Currently using Decathlon shoes(least expensive one _kalenji? which seems to be ok, but not sure if thats enough for this program as I progress... Wanted to try some other shoes but I am not sure which one and why they are so expensive! As far as I know they just import from south-east Asia at cost of few pennies and rebrand ! )

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help. It also includes a link to a post about buying running shoes, which may help.
Hi raviscn , just to add re running shoes - Decathlon Kalenji shoes are intended for running, not fashion wear, so provided that yours fit, provide support and feel comfortable, and they're not worn out, they'll be fine for C25K and potentially beyond.
Definitely read the link given before investing in more shoes. Getting an older model or an unpopular colourway, or buying in the sales can save you money.
However, when I go to a specialist running shop and they spend a long time with me advising, and having me try on and test out lots of pairs of shoes, I buy from them. Yes, it might cost me a bit more, but I see that as paying for quality customer service, which I'm happy to do.
Thanks for the pointers. I did go through all of them which helped me a lot this time.. I don't have a shop which has the gait analysis or a knowledgeable shop person to suggest something good. I guess I need to go to a shop and try different ones and take one which is the most comfortable. Knowing Kalenji good for current program is assuring though. Thanks again!
(after yesterday's run I feel a bit stiff on the back, guess I have to do the S&F training today and slow down. While running I felt its easier than week2 and felt to go a bit faster. I know its is misleading as I read others' injury stories)
Well done on your progress. 👏😊I hope to run W5R1 tomorrow, so we are at a similar point in the plan. I am returning after a flare up of a previous injury (not caused by running). All the very best for your onward running journey. 😊🏃🏻♀️
got difficulty at W5R3 at 17th minute. started to pain at the calf. started walking after that. Would try again after a day's break. I see many had difficulty to complete this run...
