Consider this as complimentary to the advice we give C25K beginners. It's a US-based site and says all the right things.

The site is not currently working for me. "Error 1000 DNS points to prohibited IP" from Cloudflare the Content Distribution Network. It's probably a temporary error.

For some, running will be easier in six weeks; for others, it could be six months. One day, your breathing will regulate itself into a nice little rhythm, and you’ll look down at your watch and think, “Wow, I’ve already been running for 30 minutes! I feel so good!”

So true! Two weeks ago I was singing during a run, and wasn't at all out of breath.

Thanks for that. Good article. Shall use the website. I graduated recently and then my motivation left me and my last run was 3 weeks ago. I have been feeling really bad and sad about stopping. Been feeling like I am returning to the couch days with accompanying negative thoughts such as, it's ludicrous that you ever thought you could take up running! It's been horrible. I hope I can start running again. This article helped. I am working myself up to just getting out the door tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed. I'm 58 and the body is getting a bit worn and cranky. I have had a bad'ish back for years (from past muscle strain). I woke up in the middle of the night last night with aching and painful back which is a return of an old sensation as body aches had improved beyond belief from running regularly. Paradoxically this pain was a good reminder of how beneficial running is (in so many ways). I had become pain free and moving with so much more ease. But I had not fully realised this until the familiar pain returned last night. And then I thought to myself, you need to be running again. So I am feeling a bats squeak of derring do returning. I really hope I can get out there tomorrow. Wish me luck!!
