I get only one run per week in the daylight (other two are in the darkness, after work). So, typically I do the first (new distance) run on Sunday, in the daylight, on my day off. So, I set out for my W4R1 yesterday, and after the first 2 minutes, my shoe caught on the paver and I promptly fell on my knees, ruining trousers, gloves, scraping knees and one hand. What was most upsetting that I ran that path a number of times in the darkness... and THIS happened the first time I ran there in the daylight. Ouch, ouch, ouch.... As I was only 2 minutes into my run, and close to home, I got up (happy that nobody saw my flop) and was about to turn home to clean up. Suddenly, it occurred to me that my joints are fine, and the skinned areas will be neither better nor worse if I will keep going. So, I am happy to report, that I persevered and completed W4R1 run... though I had a perfect excuse to give up And yes, I am proud of it!
It will be all over an forgotten in a couple of weeks. Other than somewhat ruined pair of quite nice running shoes , I am mostly concerned that I suddenly developed a slight fear of falling... and I am 'watching under my feet' rather than running relaxed.... Any ideas how to deal with that?
(BTW, I am a 'repeat' C25K runner, ran 4-5K for 6 months before... and did not have any falls...)

If you're concerned about the scrape not healing, there's likely to be a minor injuries unit near you that might be able to help. If your last anti-Tetanus jab was over ten years ago you might want to ask about a booster.
I am sorry to hear you took a tumble. It is so easy to catch an unexpected bump in the ground or pavement.
I have been doing my runs the other way around. One in the daylight at the weekend and two in the early morning. I am so looking forward to being able to do the morning runs in daylight!
Ouch! ... but you did the most important thing, making sure nobody saw 😂Just keep running and think about the runs when you didn't fall over, they are the majority, the whole 'getting back on the horse' idea. By week 9 this will be a distant memory, eclipsed by your achievements since.
