COVID

So my son tested positive for covid and here in Scotland, the entire household isolates for 10 days. Then on day 5 my husband and I tested positive, meaning our isolation was extended.

We’ve had symptoms much like a heavy cold. Nothing in the chest at all, more sinus related. Have been able to be active throughout - pacing around my garden like a caged animal!!

I was about to move on to week 8. Had run 25mins a few extra times to get myself comfortable. I’m wondering how to ease myself back in to running again? I don’t know if it’s best to drop back to a run/walk type run or whether to try a constant run, since I was managing that before? Don’t want to push myself too hard and suffer.

Any advice welcome!

After any illness i just went out and ran, gently and when I’d had enough i stopped, then I knew where my starting point was and built up from there, hope you soon feel well enough to run but don’t rush it, take your time and you will soon be back to finish your week 8

Take your time.

In the grand scheme of things, this is minor blip in your running career.

As stated in the guide to the plan, you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running. After that loss of condition is gradual.

All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out for a gentle run and see what we can comfortably manage, then use C25k or something similar to rebuild stamina and resistance to injury.

Always better to err on the side of caution, while your body restrengthens.

Take care.
