Along side C25k I have been trying to shift a few pounds by watching what I eat and trying to stick to 1900 to 2000 calories a day approx.
5 weeks in and I have had the 1st weight rise in this period but after initially being a little disappointed, I refuse to be too down, its been a bit of a social whirlwind recently and so the eating/drinking/partying has been a little more than normal so calorie intake has crept up.
But managed to bang out Wk4 run 1, yesterday with not too much problem so my running fitness certainly is getting there. How is everyone else getting on?

Your weight gain may be the result of muscle development. Muscle is denser than fat.
Measure yourself to see what regular exercise is doing for your body. Scales are a very blunt instrument and without strictly reducing your calorie intake you are unlikely to see any weight loss purely as a consequence of doing C25k.
That said, you are laying the foundations of altering your body's ability to actually burn fat while running, but that is probably still some way off.
Trying to shed a few pound too but its slow and steady, about 1lb a week on average, and not being too hard on myself if I go a bit over the calories in a day as long as its not every day. I have a calorie counting app that takes exercise into account so it will allow more calories into the daily amount depending on how active I've been.
Although the actual weight loss may seem to be slow I definitely feel better an my pre lock down cloths are starting to fit again.
Hi Rich, I'll be starting Wk 4 run 1 tomorrow. Struggling a bit lately and the weather doesn't help! But I'm not giving up🙂 . Not yet anyway. My son ran the Cumbria Ultra a couple of weeks ago. It's 73 miles. Ulverston to Carlisle Castle. I don't envisage doing that ha. I just want to get a bit fitter.
