Week 3 Run 1. Pleasantly surprised!

So while I'm taking an extra rest day per run due to my paranoia over getting shin splints again.I've finally managed to make it to week 3. The jump to 3 minute intervals wasn't that bad! Quite happy with this.

Though the front of my left foot (think around the ankle) started hurting part way through, not 100% sure what that's about so I'll have to read up on what that is to see if there's anything I can do there. It's definitely some muscle or something. I have proper running shoes 'n all that so I doubt it's that.

Still, it's nice to have a run interval that's almost an entire song-length! 😊

Onwards and upwards!

Well done! Me too- I was really scared about this and woke up with an ache in my hip today (some really old problem that I caused myself when I was young trying to do the splits to be like my friends). I decided that the run might help to ease it and oddly, it has! Really encouraged by others’ posts since I joined the forum a couple of days ago and that too has spurred me on.

Great job. This is your journey on your timescale and taking the extra rest days will do no harm at all to your progress. Pain on the top of the foot is usually a fitting issue with the shoe... and often that can be sorted out with lacing strategies. runrepeat.com/top-10-runnin...

Completely agree with this. After reading that here some months back I changedthe lacing pattern and stopped tying them so tightly and it's made a big difference. And I now, very belatedly, understand what the odd pairs of holes at the top are for! One person in the comments said that running shoes should "fit like a glove" and that helped me get it right. If the people who said it are reading this then thank you very much.

The sessions in Week 3 are the shortest overall in the whole programme, but have exactly the same amount of running in them as Week 2, just fewer walk intervals.

I left 2 days between runs virtually all the way through my C25K Kitsunes_run - there’s nowt wrong with that and for an old’un like me I decided it was fairer on my body! Re your sore foot, could your laces have been a bit tight?

Welcome to the forum Kitsunes_run well done for getting started. This is essential reading for those starting or returning after a break and includes hydration, strengthening exercises and stretching after a run all of which will help.
