Thats totally mental!

But what a triumph of mind over body 💪

It just shows what our funny old bodies can be capable of.

By the sounds of it they don't have much in the way of minds left by the end.

That's as many times as you can, running a loop of 6.7 km in no more than an hour (8:56/km). If you do the lap faster than that you get to rest until the start of the next hour. Last one still running wins.

Torture!

PS. You before me. 🤣

One thing (among many) struck me. When you break this down, doesn't it just tell us that human beings are instinctively competitive or else why would they care who was the last person standing? It's not about common sense that's driving the runners, there is something more basic that seems to be taking over mind and body here. Can't help but wonder how older runners do, if they have any!

Thanks for enlightening us. Wonder if the Belgian man started off way back in the day with C25k - now there's a thought!

Best wishes ☺️.

Endurance runners tend to be older than say marathon runners, but I think once you get beyond forty age really does begin to take its toll.

Apart from knowing that probably 3 hours would do me in, I also like sleeping too much.

Or any other time. 😊I do take your point. I've got up to half marathon distance and I've made a conscious decision that's where I'm stopping. I'm pretty sure I could physically run a marathon if I put my mind to it - but I'm just not prepared to put my my to it. And we all know that running is 90% mental challenge - the other 10% is in your head. 😉

I followed this on Twitter in real time. I see the point, hard to describe though. What does it take to achieve it? Ultra running is a special department. Train your body, by all means, but training your mind for this is something else. Would I try? Not sure. I'm still trying to figure out how to do a solo 75K. 50K is sooo last year. Lol.
