Update: No more shin splints

Last week I was miserable with every run (jog) I did with terrible shin splints. My last run for week 1 ended, and I was thinking of taking MANY days off, instead of a day or two. Monday rolled around, and I decided to go for it. Reluctant, but I wasn’t feeling any pain in my shins, only a tinge of discomfort in one of them. Now let me rewind to the last go at it... A LOT of pain in BOTH shins to the point of I could barely make the cool down walk for 5 mins. Came home and iced it, and did an epsom salt bath 🛁 soak.

So Monday I go and ran the Week 2/1st run without pain during it after! What?!🤔 How is that even possible with what I have been feeling and only a day’s rest? Not sure, but I am certainly happy. Just completed my last run for Week 2!😎😃And can’t begin to say how excited I feel. I know next week seems like the impossible right now to double up on run time , but for now, I couldn’t be more rewarded with joy than I feel right now.

Thank you all for your help and encouragement on this site❤️

Glad you’re feeling better, you must be so relieved!! 😊 having pain free shins must have helped put a spring in your step 😃 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

Thank you LudoLen. I DO indeed feel relieved, but that spring in my step???? I’m not so sure about that, except maybe mentally. Haha. I’m more like a turtle crossing a street as for my “running”. I do view it as that at least I’m moving and trying to build on endurance, and then, maybe put some spring and speed into my runs. Thank you for the encouragement and enthusiasm for me 😊

I’m glad they’re feeling much better, it’s so gutting having pain you know needs rest when all you want to do is push on.

Word of warning though, this is unlikely to be the last you see of some sort of pain or niggle as your body adapts. Even with trying to do everything right you’ll get something minor. If you keep that in mind it’s much less of a blow when it happens, just part of the course.

Thank you. Yes, I will keep that thought in mind. Thanks for the wisdom you’ve gained through your challenges.

You’re most welcome. Sorry I’m a bit of a doom and gloomer, I find it helps me to expect the worst and be delighted when it doesn’t happen most the time.
